Needle Felted Christmas Decorations

Felted Christmas decorations are lightweight, sturdy and easy to make.  For these I used small cookie cutters for the basic shape.  After filing the cookie cutter with wool roving I used the multi-needle tool to felt the shape and added more roving as needed to make the pieces thicker and dense.

I do need to mention that caution is needed when needle felting.  The repetitive motion is relaxing and I relaxed a little too much.  I gave myself a slight, yet painful puncture wound.  I have silicone finger protectors, unfortunately I had them in my craft case instead of on my fingers. I am glad to say that I did not bleed on any of my projects and I will remember to wear the finger protectors going forward. Fingertip wounds always seem rather painful for as small as they are!

After felting, I added beads, wire, twine and a bit of paint to finish the details. These decorations are ready to hang from the tree, be added to small wreaths, barrettes, pins or even magnets.  Their light weight make them a very versatile decoration.
