I enjoy distributing small red envelopes to friends and co-workers for the Lunar New Year. They are a fun way to add to the celebration. Usually I put chocolate and a scratcher ticket in the envelopes. This year I decided to give handmade tag bookmarks. These give me the opportunity to upcycle my old garment tags using paints, stencils, rubber stamps and bits of scrap paper torn from old magazines. Basically you can use anything that is not bulky and will stick to the tag.
The sentiment character on these is stamped after the tags are dry, I have a block type rubber stamp that gives me a variety of sentiments. I added a coin with beading thread to finish the bookmark. A tassel or beads are also a nice addition. This is a wonderful gift for anyone that enjoys reading or that needs to keep track of where they left off writing in their journal. The small tag size fits perfectly in the red envelope and of course I will still include my favorite celebration treat – chocolate!
