Over the last few months I have found myself with an abundance of deli sandwich bags. I tell myself it is because we are doing our part to help small local businesses, but in reality it is because deli sandwiches have become our regular Sunday afternoon go-to lunch. The workers have our orders memorized and it is fun to see them regularly. So, what to do with the bags…. I have used them to wrap fragile items that we donate to the local thrift shops and I also use them as gift bags. This time, I decided to use one as gift wrap. Painting the bag makes it sturdy and it still folds well. I used a combination of green and white paint, I especially like that acrylic paint easily covers the store logo on the bag. I cut the completed bag and used it to wrap a book for a friend’s birthday present. The mottled pattern makes the paper adaptable to any occasion and it can be reused by the recipient. A little curling ribbon and the gift is ready to be presented.
Now that weekend is almost here I will be able to replenish my bag supply on Sunday. Be sure to watch for upcoming project ideas.
