I love working on puzzles; jigsaw, word, Sudoku, crosswords they are all fun and challenging.
My daughter gave me a beautiful butterfly puzzle, the colors are very vivid. It is the type of puzzle that has odd shapes instead of the usual interlocking ones. At first it seems easier than it is. After all, those odd shaped pieces should be easier to place right? Not so! At least not for me.
Some of my art projects are also like that. At first it seems a project will be quick and easy. Then when I actually start putting the steps and techniques together things can get a little challenging. Unlike the wooden puzzle my art and craft projects do not always have the end result that I imagined in my head. Of course this can be a good thing. Surprise adds fun to the process. It is also a good thing because I am able to learn new applications and techniques as I go along.
Fortunately, I do have sessions that I end up with something I like much better than my original idea. Whether in art time or puzzle time it is fun to put all the pieces together to see what the end result will be. As usual, the fun is in the process.
What is your favorite type of puzzle?
