Alcohol Ink Project

Sometimes we need to take a break from the usual routine. Doing so allows our mind to clear and make room for new thoughts. It also allows room to let the unexpected happen.

I do this when instead of collaging or painting my background papers I use pre-made die cuts as the main focus of my handmade cards.  I still add washi tape and I also use my rubberstamps more than I usually do especially to add patterns.  Being outside of my usual style forces me to slow down in the process.  My focus is on how to arrange the items in a way that will show the card was thought through rather than tossed together.

I like to keep greeting cards ready for giving. Today I am working on using up my various stash items to replenish my supply of greeting cards.  I make most of the card and add finishing touches to personalize it once I have the recipient in mind. When I was going through my scrap paper stash I came across these flocked papers that I have never found a use for.

The “I wonder” bug bit me and now I have ventured down “I wonder” how these will look if I spray them with ink.  So, I left my other card project and went down the bunny trail right to the land of messy ink hands.

I am pleased with the result. I do not have a project in mind for them yet.  Surely something will pop up.  They will work well as either a background or a focal image.  Maybe for a colorful birthday or anniversary card.  In the meantime I will leave them to dry and return to finishing up my previous card assembly project.

Who knows what I will find in my stash next that I can “wonder” about.

I like the way these turned out, even with my inky fingers.
