I am enjoying my usual journaling time, though a little bit differently this year. I decided to decorate the pages a bit. It is a fun experience, though I sometimes want to keep decorating. I love to write and I also love the added images. I have to keep reminding myself to leave space to write. Each journal session is a challenge in balancing the two.
This is the perfect blank journal, it stays flat and my pens and highlighters do not bleed through. I also like that the pages do not curl when I use glue to adhere my images.
For my first play time I used the deli papers I painted and my new washi tapes for a minimal type of set up on my journal page. This worked out great leaving me plenty of blank space to write. I especially like the way the deli paper appears to actually be printed on the paper.
For this spread I used washi tape and paper scraps to decorate the pages. Feeling a musical theme. I have ventured out a little bit by using more space to decorate the page.
I found this tissue like paper that I really like. It is delicate, similar to the deli paper I usually use. The original paper is black and white, I inked a little bit of color on the moth. Washi tape and stickers finish the design. Did you notice that I also used more of the page space for décor?
Birds and music. After I finished this one I realized that my journaling space was a bit limited. I like the way that the bottom layers of paper leave a ‘shadow’ effect beneath the birds. I used torn sheet music, washi tape, stickers and printed tissue type paper to make these borders.
The panda is one that I painted on ‘rice’ paper. The paper is thin, pliable and lays smoothly on the page. I found this bamboo sticker in one of my books and washi tape completes the border. I like that this layout leaves me lots of space to write.
