A fun day at Little Italy in San Diego. I recently enjoyed a three day weekend. We have been planning what to do for weeks ahead of time.
I wanted to do so many activities. First I was going to try a variety of food places. Problem is most that I thought of did not open till lunch time or later. Then I wanted to include dessert places. Our final plan was to find a variety of dessert locations in an area that we could also do lots of walking and pretend we are tourists.
We did not have a step-by-step plan other than where to start the adventure and the goal being to taste as many different desserts as we could. We also had an idea of where our last stop would be.
Victoria found a bakery café for our starting point. This was our first time there and we wanted to try lots of the desserts. We ordered five different desserts to share and two lattes. This is a delicious breakfast!! The table was crowded with all the plates, they looked beautiful. I love the variety of textures, flavors and colors. It is so relaxing to sit in the shade of the café patio looking out at San Diego Bay and truly enjoying the wonder of the moment.
Next stop, my favorite art supply store where I restocked my art supplies and found some great Christmas gift ideas.
From the art supply store we were on a hunt for boutiques. We found a cute one a few blocks away. The owner was entertaining, we bonded with a fellow shopper and found perfect outfits. It was fun hanging out and laughing with complete strangers.
Now to find hair salons. The only one we found did not have any open appointment times (by now it was early afternoon).
Even though we have done a lot of walking neither one of us is hungry for lunch so the next stop? More desserts! Our adventure ends as it started in a wonderful bakery. The desserts are delicious and the presentation beautiful. Again we select a variety to share and have to bring some home for later.
The spontaneity of the day adds to the specialness of the moment. Our boutique experience is the perfect highlight to the outing. We laughed, joked, shared clothing ideas and truly enjoyed mingling with total strangers.
I am refreshed and revived from just going with the flow of a free day no rushing. We have lasting memories of the very special day that grew from the desire to sample desserts and go for a walk.
Take each moment you have to just enjoy it doing little things. You never know when your little outings will transform into a most wonderful adventure.
