Vinyl records, do you still have yours? It is interesting how things reappear after seeming to be replaced by ‘new and improved” items.
I have a CD that I listen to almost every day. The last four selections are especially inspiring. There are no words, it is all instrumental. In my early days of painting I would play it and the music filled me with emotions that spilled out onto my artwork. Listening to it still does the same thing for me even after all these years of playing it so often.
When the kids were little they had their favorite records. It is fun to go in bookstore and see vinyl records back again. I do not really know if that is what they are made of, it is just what I am used to calling them.
I still have most of the records and also played them for the grandkids at different times. And I enjoy listening to them too. They bring back lots of happy memories. It is relaxing to listen and watch the record spin around and around. It gives me a little while of truly being in the moment.
We also have the small 45 records with read-a-long books. Unfortunately, some of the records were accidentally put in the attic and they warped in the heat. However, when I tried playing them, they actually worked though the reader’s voice was a little wobbly sounding.
I remember purchasing the Rocky soundtrack records and using them for my exercise routine. I had to be careful to not jump too close to the record player or the needle would bounce!
In my much younger days, records were part of high school slumber parties. Popcorn, trying different eye make-up techniques and our favorite record playing in the background; what could be better.
I guess streaming music is preferable for folks now. No having to get up and flip the record, no worries about accidentally scratching the surface.
Music is wonderful, what’s your favorite way to listen to it?
