It is almost Valentine’s Day! I heard a discussion on the radio last year asking parents if they give valentines to their children. One of the announcers said “yes, it is a family celebration”. The second announcer said “no, it’s for the parents to celebrate”. This was when the question was opened up for listener responses. I reached my destination and turned off the radio before I as able to hear all the opinions of the listeners calling in.
For myself, I say – the more the merrier let’s all celebrate Valentine’s Day. I always gave valentines to my kids and helped them to make valentines for their school friends. It was a fun occasion. Mostly homemade so it was a good family time too. And though the kids are grown and moved to their own homes, snail mail still delivers a valentine to their door.
How do you celebrate?
This year for my coworkers I used plain white paper bags and sprayed ink on them for color. I tend to like a lot of color so even though red is my favorite color, my valentines are multi-color.After spraying the bags I attached these heart cutouts that I previously made for valentine cards a couple of years ago. I always make extra items because I get caught up in the process and by the time I stop there are many more items than I need for the original project. A happy circumstance. In each bag I put a couple of candy items including chocolate of course. I folded over the top of the bag and sealed it with a washi tape ‘thank you’. Now I just need to add the recipient’s name on the bag directly below the thank you verbiage and distribute them at work.I also have a bestie that works from home so I packed a treat box for her. Sweets, face masks and a handmade valentine card.
