Time to celebrate again. This year’s birthday celebration took me to Disneyland! In addition to being a fun time of rides and celebrating, it was also very much a food adventure. Actually, the entire day was planned around what foods we would try.
The day began nice and early to be there when the park opened. Our first stop was the Carnation Café for breakfast.
After a few rides we took a sit down break in the Tiki room, sang with the birds and later enjoyed a combination pineapple/mango whip that we ate before I remembered to photograph it.
And so went our Disneyland outing; rides, walk, eat, repeat and repeat again. We had park hopper tickets and enjoyed eating at both locations.
Before getting in line for the next ride we bought a midday dessert. I love frozen bananas. May as well eat in line while we are waiting for the rides.
Our last food stop before going back to the Disneyland side for a couple more rides and shopping was the Ghirardelli ice cream shop.
Their fudge sauce is very rich and the perfect way to end our food sampling day.
It has been a wonderful birthday celebration and I am looking forward to making a journal page about it to share with you soon.
When we arrived back at Victoria’s place for me to get my car and drive home, after she set the directions on my phone and we hugged goodbye she asked me to text her when I arrived at home.
As I drove away it struck me how often we as parents say the same thing “let me know when you arrive” and we wait to hear back before going to bed. Now it is my turn to be the one to ‘check in’ the thought is both odd and comforting. The years have flown by and the youngster that loved to be taken to theme parks is now the young adult taking me.
Treasure your family times. Take time to preserve them either through photos, journals or scrapbooks. They are wonderful memories to revisit.
Keep celebrating.
