Easy card making techniques

Here are a few easy card making techniques to use up your paper stash. Though I refer to card making in most of my posts the techniques are applicable to journal pages, bookmarks or even to decorate gift bags.  As usual, the supplies can be easily adjusted to your preferred paper collection.

The combination of the book pattern washi tape and the printed book page make this a good choice to give someone that enjoys reading. Also, it can be trimmed narrower to use as a bookmark.

The printed center area of this card is from the resale store paper packet I shared in a previous post.  Both of the side panels are washi tape.

I added the pattern to the center panel using a rubber stamp.  The inked stamp is lightly misted with water before stamping to make the ink disperse on the paper.

The background paper below is the paper I use to protect my table from paint overflow when working on other projects. Thus the paint pattern is random and unplanned. Originally this page also came in the resale store paper packet mentioned above.

You can make various background papers by using the ones that you place under your projects. This is a photo I shared earlier this year for the artist tile post showing the paper I use to protect the table.

The background is a little darker than I prefer so I added lines with 3D liners in lighter colors. You can also splatter paint lighter colors if you do not have dimensional paint.

Rubber stamping makes a nice background. If the stamp is small stamping it in different angles works well to cover a larger area. I might go back and outline the spaces with a fine black pen.

The white space here will be covered with a layer of papers to add texture.

The painted center panel on this card is from a previous project.  It was a larger sheet of paper that covered my work space to protect the table. Once again the paint pattern is random.  The top layer is from a paper selection my son gave me for Mother’s day.

The variety is wonderful. I hope to show you more projects using these soon.

I purposely omitted the sentiments on these cards to show you the full card designs.

Have fun using up your paper stash.  Drop a comment to let me know how these easy card making techniques work for you.
