Farmer’s Market

I almost started doing the yardwork then decided to walk over to farmer’s market instead.  It has been a while since I have been there so the timing is good. I enjoy seeing how our farmer’s market has grown over the years.

As usual I started with the chicken delight crepe for breakfast. It is a combination of chicken, spinach, avocado, cheese and tomato. I arrived early so the line had not grown long yet.

Next stop – mushrooms!  There is a good variety of mushrooms and this time I bought quite a selection.  I am in a mushroom phase.  In addition to enjoying them as a subject for drawing, stamping and painting, I eat them almost every day.

These are interesting, lion’s mane mushrooms are slightly heavier than the other mushrooms. I have never tried them before.

These are from my variety basket.

For some reason this variety reminds me of fairy tales.  Though it has been too many years for me to remember which book I saw them in.

homemade bread
Another first time purchase is this cranberry walnut bread. It is dense but not dry and works well right out of the bag or toasted. I made chicken salad sandwiches with it. Very good, I will be buying this one again.
nature poppies
The poppies were blooming on my walk back home. Poppies are one of the first flowers I learned how to paint and are one of my favorites.
guava pastry
One last yummy food on the way home. This guava pastry is from the same bakery vendor that sold the cranberry walnut bread. Portion control I am glad I only bought one. Very good.

Now the sun has come out and it is a little too hot for yardwork. However, I did get nice walk and have new items for my lunches this week.  I also enjoyed walking and socializing around the craft market that runs on Saturdays. A perfect start to the weekend.
