If you have tried rubberstamping on deli paper you might have had an uneven image. The print quality depends on the type of stamp and ink used. And also on the deli paper itself.
This card is made with recycled deli papers from the sandwich shop. It was a very good sandwich. The paper is slightly ‘waxier’ than the deli paper I purchase to cover my work table.
Rubberstamping on deli paper using foam stamps worked well. I stamped both the star and spiral images multiple times before re-inking the stamps. This technique creates sharp and shadow images in a layered effect.I like that the card base can be used vertically or horizontally because of the non-directional stamping design. However, I knew it would be horizontal to accommodate the verbiage. The happy birthday verbiage stamp is less porous and the image is not as dense as the ones made with the foam stamps. I also think this is due to using dye ink instead of pigment ink. The ink beads up a little bit on the waxy paper and also on the tissue paper. After stamping the image on the card, I also stamped the verbiage on tissue paper to layer over the original image. This step creates a bolder image so the verbiage stands out from the background.
If you prefer to use an image rather than verbiage as the focal point you can use the same technique to make the image bolder.
Have fun creating, trying new techniques and taking sandwich breaks.
