The final watercolor kimono card is ready for me to share with you. These are the card blanks that I posted about in a couple of previous posts. My intention with both the kimono and paper lantern cards is to demonstrate various techniques to make your projects different from each other. In the interest of keeping my posts fairly short I divided the projects.

In my previous examples I used a napkin to lift the color while the paint was still wet. Here, I painted the center area using less water to have it appear darker.
When the entire card is dry the trim can be painted without seeping into the kimono image.

When you find a favorite focal image it is easy to decorate it in various ways to personalize your card for the recipient. Besides varying the same image with different colors as I have, adding doodled patterns in your images will add texture and dimension. Rubber stamping on the dry surface and simple paint dots on a wet background create a different appearance for each card. This is especially helpful if you need to make multiple cards quickly.
Have fun experimenting and discovering your creative side.
