Easy Techniques for sticker cards

These easy techniques for sticker cards are handy when you need a quick handmade card.

You can prepare the stamped card blanks ahead of time and add the stickers later.

I have a lot of stickers from the 80’s; it’s time to use them.

The bunny stickers are from an Easter collection. I trimmed them close to the image edge. Though I chose to not use the sticker borders shown here, I am leaving them in the photo. Sticker borders are a quick option if you prefer to not use rubber stamping.

I sponged chalk pastels on the card to add color to the background. Afterwards, I added the lines with a marker to ‘ground’ the images. Otherwise they appear to be floating on the card.

Small stickers add color to the completed card and little bit more whimsy. This handmade card is for a baby shower.

When stamping the border I use 2 different shades of green to add depth. The left hand side is the first inked layer; the right hand side shows the layering process. This is the border technique I used for both cards. However, you can also do the same layering with one shade of ink. The image will naturally fade out by using the stamp multiple times without re-inking in-between stampings.

I selected an image that allows enough space to also include the stamped sentiment. I used the same layering technique to stamp the grass as the border technique. This card is for a 2 year old’s birthday.

These techniques work well with magazine cut-outs If you do not have stickers.  A stick glue works better with magazine cut outs than liquid glue.  Liquid glue will occasionally rumple light weight papers.

This is a fun project for kids to use their stickers too.  Additionally, there are a lot of holiday themed stickers available that you can use for your upcoming holiday cards.

Have fun playing.
