Handmade thank you cards

Three techniques for your handmade thank you cards. Handmade cards are one of my favorite projects. I am beginning 2026 with gratitude for family and friends.  Actually, we also began the year with eating out, movies and meeting at farmer’s market. However, I was busy eating and enjoying family time and completely forgot to photograph our adventures. Maybe next time.

Now I get to make multiple thank you cards to acknowledge family and friends for their thoughtfulness. This is especially fun because I am combining the new supplies I received this year with my current stash.  The patterned papers for all of these cards were given to me as a Christmas gift. The sheets are a perfect size for card making.

hand stamped card
I started this card by stamping on both the cardstock base and the paper. This is a good technique when you prefer to not have a white border around your main image. The stamped background provides a matted appearance without adding bulk to your card. And, this technique is helpful if you mail your handmade thank you cards. The fewer layered mats, the less the card weighs.
A floral die cut and stamped sentiment complete the card. I inked the edge of the card, die cut and patterned paper to add dimension.
The patterned paper for this card is not quite wide enough to cover the cardstock. I added a strip of patterned paper along the edge to cover the gap.
The sunflower card has the white of the base showing. I inked all of the elements on this card. And I inked around the edge of the completed card. The sentiment is stamped on deli paper. I like how the deli paper tends to disappear when it is glued to the card.

I hope this gives you ideas for your own handmade thank you cards and any theme you enjoy making.  Additionally, you can cut magazine images if you do not have die cuts. Washi tape works well for the borders as do strips of magazine pages. The possibilities are numerous.

Be sure to experiment with the supplies you already have on hand. Most of all, have fun.  Enjoy the process.
