Can you believe how close we are to the holidays? I like to have my journal page layouts ready ahead of time before I put pen to the page. I am looking forward to fun family times and celebrations to write about. My journals also give me a place to write about the not so fun times too. When I go back and reread past journal entries I enjoy the memories of fun times and also seeing how the difficult times played out.
I rubberstamped various images on deli paper to use for decorating this page. You can also use tissue paper or napkins if you do not have deli paper. The idea is to use light weight paper because once it is glued to the page it blends with the paper rather than appearing as ‘sticker’ on the page. There is nothing wrong with stickers, I use them often and am working on a page similar to this one that uses washi tape and stickers. However, for this page I wanted something that will blend with the background.
Gelatos work well to paint in the images before cutting them. Keep the paint brush just damp so the paper does not tear.
Usually cutting out the images is not my thing, I tend to get too close to the edge. For these I left a little border around the image knowing that it will not show much once it is glued to the page.
What’s your journaling style? Do you prefer completely undecorated pages so you have more area for writing? Do you like to have a fully decorated page with minimal verbiage?
I have an idea for another journal page layout using minimal purchased supplies. I will post that soon.
