I found this journal at my local bookstore. I renamed it “project planner” and I adjusted some of the categories to fit my organizing style, making it a very helpful tool for planning and organizing my art/craft projects.
The book has pages to write new ideas, set project goals including the steps to complete them. There is room to sketch out ideas and a progress tracker. I especially like the section for listing my current supplies, an inventory list for my project ideas. This section helps me think of new uses for the supplies I already have and also helps me to get my supplies organized by project so that I can have everything together ready to work on. I gather all the supplies in a basket and am ready to create on a whim. This inventory list also lets me know what supplies I am missing for future projects.
I like to have my ideas, sketches, supply lists and project instructions all in one easy to find spot, it is a time saver.
It is easy to think of new project ideas as I take the time to list my supply inventory. I am not too rigid in the planning, once a project is started I do not always go with my original idea. Sometimes all goes as anticipated, sometimes the flow completely changes to a direction all its own and sometimes it is a combination of both! That is the fun part, the process more than the outcome is what frees my mind to fully enjoy the moment without any notice of the time passing.
