I came across this quote by Anthony Trollope the other day, “What on earth could be more luxurious than a sofa, a book, and a cup of coffee…” It is a great coffee day quote. Actually, it is a good quote any day!
Sitting on the sofa enjoying a book and a cup of coffee really is a wonderful event. Especially when biscotti is also included. This is the perfect start to a lazy weekend day at home.
However, at our house I am currently lacking the sofa and the end table. In July, we decided that it was time to do a bit of a home ‘refresh’. The timing was perfect to replace the carpeting and the old furniture. So, the old furniture was hauled away before the carpet installation in order to have less items to relocate to other rooms. The new furniture was due to arrive in August. Then the delivery was postponed to September, then October. Now I notice that the estimated delivery date is no longer posted. Oh my!
The front room looks a little odd with the lawn chairs, folding table and things in slight disarray. We do love the carpeting and I know the front room ‘camping’ style décor is temporary. In the meantime, I continue to enjoy reading in the reclining lawn chair, enjoying the specialness of the situation. Thankfully, coffee, tea, books and biscotti are still arriving in the stores. And, I even have clean reading glasses.
I am very grateful for our home and family and all the silly memories this experience will give us.
