Happy mail packages, I love them! Sometimes when working on my project ideas I have the perfect die cut shape, but it is not in the color or texture that I want to use.
I am part of a happy mail exchange group. We take our extra, usable craft supplies and make a gift package to trade with other paper crafters.
The participants in this group are very generous. And, because they are located in different areas of the country there is quite a variety in the supplies shared. Some of the items I have received are not available in my local craft or art supply stores.
This ‘grab bag’ of happy mail also stretches my imagination as I have a chance to work with supplies that I would not have usually bought for myself. We all have a chance to experiment with new ideas and projects.
One of my happy mail packages contained these die cut birdcages. It is a die cut I have always liked, but not purchased. The sender took the time to cut a variety of them for me.
I prefer a darker birdcage and also a metallic look for my current project. For me the solution is to emboss the die cut with various metallic embossing powders. I can also use darker ink to change the color if I do not want the texture of the embossing powder.
I painted various papers for the background. However, now that I have the birdcages as I like them and the background colors selected I am not sure if I want to add birds, flowers or maybe both.
Originally the plan was to make a birthday card. Now that I see the items laid out on my work table I also want to add the images to a page in my art journal. Good thing my happy mail friend gave me plenty of birdcages!
