The mother’s day cards are ready for me to add the sentiment and mail. This year we have a new mom in the family and a new grandmother. Family time finds us enjoying taking turns holding the new baby. He is getting big quickly and has a beautiful smile.
For my usual card making I mostly use packets of pre-cut cardstock with matching envelopes. Now I find that I have a good amount of stray single envelopes so I am cutting my own cards to use up those envelopes.
For the mother’s day cards I am choosing to use patterned cardstock rather than plain white. Already having the background design works well with the lighter weight cardstock I am using because adding wet media tends to make the paper curl and buckle.
In addition to using my patterned cardstock I also want to use more of my pre-cut dies and small images. A double challenge for me.
Aren’t these little nests cute? I added scrap paper and stickers to the sides of the main image. The gold at the top is part of a chocolate bar wrapper. A little reminder to take time for a chocolate break.
I chose this image for the mom that is now also a new grandmother. First she is the keeper of one family nest, now an additional little family member gives her another nest to visit and enjoy.
These were all fun projects for me. I like the focus on each individual mom and my thoughts of them. It is a blessing to see the family grow in their own special way.
What project challenges do you give yourself to make use of your paper stash?
