I bought these watercolor card blanks a very long time ago at the art museum store. I have worked my way through most of the original set; there are 3 left to complete. However, in the interest of keeping this post fairly short I will do each project separately.
It is stay-cation time for me so I am enjoying the extra time catching up with unfinished projects in-between cleaning and yardwork chores.
The main design on my card set is already printed on the watercolor card. If you do not have access to watercolor card blanks, you can do the same thing using a permanent, non-water-soluble marker. For those of you that prefer to not draw, you can trace simple designs from children’s coloring books for ideas. A large, open design allows you to personalize the details in your finished card.I used watercolor to fill in the main design and waited for that to dry before painting the trim. There are various ways to add texture or patterns to the background. Working while the paint is still wet, I pressed a napkin to ‘lift’ the color randomly. Another technique to add interest is to sprinkle salt on the wet paint. Let it dry completely before brushing the salt off.I added the random floral pattern using a small rubber stamp after the paint was completely dry. To complete the design, I added light shading around the sides and bottom of the kimono image. Doing so adds depth and dimension to the card.
This was a fun, relaxing project for me to finish. I will show you the others soon.
Have a fun summer! I hope you have time to relax with your art and crafting time.
