Easy techniques for Halloween cards

These easy techniques for Halloween cards are a follow up to my last post.  I hope you were able to apply those ideas to your card making adventures.

Upcycling and recycling are wonderful for making your creations unique. I enjoy seeing what other creatives add to their projects especially when they reside in a different area. The papers, candy wrappers and scrap papers are often unique to the location they were originally purchased.

This is the deli paper that I used to protect my table top. I added music paper scraps to make it an interesting background paper for my projects.

I have small vintage Halloween bags in my scrap stash. You can also use napkins, magazine images or wrapping paper. The variety of images here give me multiple items to add to my projects. Though I am not fond of cutting out images, I will do it occasionally. Additionally, they do not have to be complete images.

The incomplete pumpkin image works well when placed on the edge of my card.  I like this because my background paper design is not completely covered.  Also, there is plenty of room for the stamped greeting.

The black cat Halloween cards are from previous projects. I am adding them here to show the layering technique. I inked the background directly on the card. The white music paper gives more contrast behind the cat than the orange paper does. The border for both examples is a torn napkin.

If I were to make these again, I would trim away the white border around the pumpkin stickers.

I hope this gives you ideas for ways to layer your cards regardless of the theme you select. Layering and collage can add interest to your projects.

These techniques are quick and easy especially if you already cover your work area to protect the surface from paints, inks and glue.  If you rotate the paper between projects you will be able to expose different areas to the elements.  It is interesting to see the patterns that emerge.

Have fun creating, celebrate a little every day
