Handmade valentine card

Handmade Valentines

Following up on my previous handmade valentines post.  I continued to work with the junk envelopes and supplies from my previous post. I arranged them differently. This technique works well when you need to make multiple cards and want them to be slightly different from each other. You maintain the theme while creating something different with each card.

The polka dot painted heart is one I made a long time ago but did not have an immediate use for. That happens sometimes when I am experimenting with different techniques. I put them away and eventually have a project that I can add them to. This time I added the yellow die cut for a little more color.

The love hearts have different junk mail backgrounds. Notice that the bolder background pushes the heart image forward.

This valentine has the junk paper as more of a shadow than the one in my previous post.

Love you who are. I like the message on this heart. It reminds us to love who we are with all our imperfections, stresses and insecurities, we are special.

I tend to focus on techniques and images in my posts. The reason is that I am providing directions and ideas to help others find their own style.  The message of the card is also important and very personal. When I was selling my painted cards I always added an encouraging, inspirational quote.  Customers told me the message of the card added to the painting was what they appreciated, both together.  It does make a difference.

Whether you use paints, die cuts, magazine images or junk mail sometimes adding a short message is the final touch that completes your handmade creations.

Love who you are, love what you create.
