This is a great project that children also enjoy making. It is also a recycling project using old magazines and scrap packing cardboard or poster board. I cut 2 heart shapes from the cardboard and tore various strips from colorful magazine pages. The jagged edges work well in the final pattern.
Glue the paper strips onto the heart cutouts, overlapping the strips as needed to completely cover the hearts. To keep the collaged hearts flat, I placed them between plastic wrap and put them under heavy books to dry overnight. When the hearts are dry trim away any excess paper from the edges of
the heart shapes and punch holes on the side if you want to add a ribbon to hang the pocket. Glue the bottom halves of the hearts together to create the pocket. Now your heart is ready to stuff for gifting!
I chose to put self-care, home spa type items in mine. You can also stuff it with chocolate treats, craft supplies or any items that will customize it to your recipient. It can even be a holder for a tea bag and homemade cookies!
What will you put in yours?
