Last Mother’s Day my daughter gave me this dwarf Jade Bonsai. It is a miracle that it has survived for a year. I have never been able to keep a bonsai alive for longer than about three or four months. This one must be determined to survive, it is growing larger than I think it should be, I have not trimmed it yet.
Earlier this year it dropped a few leaves that I replanted just for fun along with a couple of leaves from the outdoor succulents. They all sprouted and grew! I have another bonsai leaf planted hopefully it will also take root and grow.
Someone that will remain unidentified to protect the guilty broke one of my teacups. The handle was in multiple pieces some too small to reattach. Instead of throwing out the cup, I covered the broken area with utility tape and used the cup as the container for the fallen leaves. Now both the broken teacup and leaves have a new beginning.
Sometimes when things get chipped or broken they need a new focus, a new purpose, maybe a little bit of tape on the broken areas and they can be useful again. If the item is in too many pieces to salvage, the pieces can be used in jewelry or stepping stone mosaics. Now that I think about it, as I am typing this I am reminded that this is the second teacup he has broken….
I will repot these new sprouts soon and the broken teacup that mostly survived will once again hold new fallen leaves to sprout into plants that will decorate and add beauty to my surroundings.
