I prefer actual printed photos instead of the digital ones. Digital is good when I want to quickly share a photo from my phone or iPad. But, I enjoy sitting down and thumbing through our family photos. Either way, our photos are the little snapshots of our celebrations, family times, outings and our day to day living. It is fun to pull out the photo box and albums when we get together and look over the past year’s photos. Photographs can trigger a flood of memories and cause me to laugh all over again when I remember the story behind the photo.
It is close to cousins’ day so I pulled these photos of the cousins. One lives out of state so we do not see her as often. I am including her baby photo, she just had her 6th birthday. Then there are the California cousins. The one with the three of them on the couch is the yearly one we take at Christmas. I am skipping showing you all of them. The little guy with the pacifier is now a teen driver, working his first job and a great ‘Payday’ game opponent.
One of my favorite photographs is the one showing this same little guy being held by his cousin the day he was born. She looked at him in wonder especially his tiny hands and fingers. Her first whispered words about him were that “he was sent from God”. The time leading up to his birth we told her that she was going to have a little cousin to play with like she did with her older cousin. After a little while of holding him she let us know that “he can’t play, he can’t even walk”. I still laugh when I remember her seriousness. True, we had told her they could play together.
Over time the three of them have had much time to play, laugh and share stories. The youngsters they once were are now young adults, they have grown to be close friends. Getting the three of them together means it will be a fun time.
Pacifier to driver’s license days pass quickly. Forget the selfies, instead focus on family and friends capture the milestones and the daily happenings that will become the memories to treasure.
