Do you have a few old business cards that you can upcycle into tags?
I like to use business cards and garment tags to experiment with different paints, inks and papers. The result is instant mini art works to be used in other projects. Another advantage is that because of their size, they are quick to make. The colorful tags make a good focal point for greeting cards.
On the birthday card I used old gift wrap for the background and washi tape for the border. The tag topper is made using a combination of wrapping paper, tea bag labels, and verbiage from an old investment ad. Lots of upcycling on this one!
The thank you card topper is a collage of papers that I decorated using inks, paints and stencils. After I completed the card I noticed that the original business card embossing peeks through the deli paper adding a bit more texture. The background is stamped with gold ink.
I have not decided what sentiment to use for the bird card. The background on that card is painted using acrylic paints. For the tag topper I used a combination of spray inks and paper scraps. To finish this one I collaged tissue and a bit of gold candy wrapper. However, this time someone else ate the candy and saved the wrapper for me knowing I like to use them in my projects.
I hope this provides you with a few ideas for upcycling the many small paper scraps that tend to accumulate. And also old business cards.
What is your favorite tag technique?
