My favorite part of any celebration is spending time with family and friends. The eating lots of food part is also much appreciated. For me, the sharing of the event with others is the most special celebration of all.
Whether it is the three of us or our extended family and friends getting together it is always the highlight of the day. Our celebrations tend to be spread out over time, this adds to the fun.
This past month’s Christmas celebration was extra special because we were not able to gather together in person the previous year. So, this time we were able to resume our ping pong tournament and cracker popping at dessert time tradition. We had gift certificates as tournament prizes instead of cash this year. As usual, a few ping pong balls were lost during the game. And as usual, I will find them again throughout the year as I clean and move furniture around.
Opening presents in person was also more fun than using ‘Zoom’. Though we were very thankful to have that tool when we couldn’t gather, in person truly is better. And we get all that exercise picking up the extra paper wrappings.
I am so thankful for all of it! Each Christmas brings back happy memories of our past celebrations. The laughs, the food and all the “remember when…” statements make our time together a true celebration of being family.
It is wonderful when folks open their Christmas gifts and depending on the item, get the feeling that they cannot wait to use them, drink them, eat them or play with them. And now it is the little kid in me that can hardly wait to use my home spa items and play with my new bullet journal and craft supplies.
