Positive planning for the new year

It’s a new year and time to prepare a new planner.  Planning ahead and preparing for the new year can seem overwhelming as we extend our Covid safeguards.  Some days it helps to have planners that include positive quotes dispersed throughout the pages to help us remember to slow down and enjoy each day. This is a quote I like from my Bible study/meditation planner: “I think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the year’s” Henry Moore. I like that the focus is on the day I am in rather than an entire year.  I also like it because I have never been a fan of New Year resolutions. In the planning for the current day, week and month I am reminded to take time to care for myself too so that I can have a clear, grounded mind to see and help care for the needs of friends and family.
I actually have to write reminders to myself to drink enough water, eat a variety of veggies and have an artist date with my art supplies. And I also write myself reminders to take a walk outdoors to enjoy some sunshine and a bit of nature.

I was blessed with a variety of ‘self care’ items in the Christmas gifts I received from family and friends. I get to try new teas, a new way to make coffee to go along with my biscotti and multiple home spa type items for quiet moments. To start my evening I indulged in face mask time (the liquid kind that comes in a packet, rather than the usual fabric, go out in public face mask time).  After the mask it is time to put on some cozy socks, light a scented candle and start making thank you cards.

Take time to relax in nature.
