It is so nice to have cooler weather and overcast mornings. We do not see much of a change in seasons so even these small changes are welcomed.
Fall and winter are my favorite seasons. It is a time for cozy clothes, soups, and sometimes we get a bit of rain. We have a few trees with leaves that change color just enough to add a little bit of yellow, orange and red to the neighborhood. There was a time when I did not care much for the colors of fall. Now I love them. I especially enjoy the brightness of the leaves after one of our rare rainy days.
Our Halloween decorations get put out in late September or early October and I keep them displayed through Thanksgiving. So, this year, I decided to make a floral wreath to freshen up the usual décor. The combination of bright colors add a welcome touch to our front door. And though they are artificial it is nice to enjoy the flowers without aggravating my allergies.
For the base of the wreath I wrapped burlap ribbon that I found on clearance at the craft store around the wire frame. Now if I want to change the flowers next year or if I want to make a wreath for another season all I have to do is cut the ribbon and still use the same wire frame.
Another thing I enjoy about fall is that the cooler weather prompts the desire to bake. While I am in the mood for fall colors I also baked a pumpkin pie. However, I completely forgot to take a photograph of the pie before we cut into it.
Now that the wreath is completed and the pie baked it is time for a tea break.
What is your favorite time of year?
