Weed Trimmer Adventure

It is weed trimmer adventure time again.  I can hardly believe that it has been a year since I purchased this weed trimmer.  Such a handy tool.  It was last year’s birthday present to myself!!!  I love this tool.  This brand works.  The previous one was too difficult for me to remove the trim cord canister, the one before that was a gasoline one that I did not care for.  This one is just right.

This model trimmer has a very easy to change line cartridge.

The trimmer also adjusts perfectly so I can use it without bending over the trimmer. Much easier on my back.

When I first used it, I started in the upper yard right when I got off work.  It only took me an hour and a half to do the upper yard, side yard and back yard.  Yes, I know, I am not the fastest weed trimmer, but I try.  Goodness, I was thinking I could even move on to do the neighbor’s yard, but enough is enough.  My arms were starting to quiver.

Now this year the rain really hit us so the ground has been too wet every time I plan to do the yard work. It has been a muddy mess to try to do very much in our upper yard.  Though I have been able to keep up with the back and side yards pretty well.

We are having a few sunny days so the ground has dried out some.  No more mud, just a bit damp.  The upper yard is pretty much out of view from the house so I was really surprised to see how tall and overgrown the weeds have gotten since the last time I was up there in December.

Seeing the mess was a bit intimidating just trying to figure out how and where to start!  With a prayer and the handy weed trimmer I started in on the project that took me 4 ½ hours.  Actually, the upper yard took me 2 ½ hours the rest of the time was spent on the front and back yards.

The yard waste container was overflowing by the time I finished.

Last time I worked up there I cut a path through the ice plant to make it easier to walk up there.  With all the rain the ice plant grew back over my narrow path already. Redoing it will be a project for another day. I was too tired to start doing it on the same day.  It will be easier now that the rains have slowed down.

 It has been wonderful to have all the rain, even with the extra weed growth.  And as can be seen by my main blog photo, the ice plant is blooming beautifully.

I love seeing these blooms. The bees are also very attracted to them.

Now the “green” yard waste container is full to the brim and ready for the weekly pick up.  The yards are all neat and tidy and I get to rest the remainder of the week.

  1. Does your new trimmer feed the line automatically as you use it?
    The brand I have isn’t good at it. Ugh!

    1. Hi Monica;
      Yes, fortunately it feeds the line automatically so I don’t have to stop and reload. It is so easy to use.
