Birthday Celebrations

I love birthday celebrations!  As I have noted in previous posts, I like pretty much any celebration.  They add welcome festivity to our days and they remind us to live and enjoy life.

This year was a quiet, busy birthday celebration.  We went to dinner and the movies.  But, before that Victoria surprised me with quite an assortment of pastries from the bakery.  I completely forgot to photograph them before we ate them, same with our dinner.  So, even though the photos are not here, the meal and desserts really did happen, you just have to imagine them.

We found ourselves with extra time between dinner and the movie so we made a quick trip to the store and of course tried some food samples.  Not that we hadn’t already eaten enough!  And yes, the sample of trail mix resulted in a bag of it to appearing in the shopping cart.

Movie time included free popcorn for my birthday bonus, then it was time to go home to open gifts.

Each gift is perfect for me. Among them I received supplies for my journaling and card making.

These markers are especially nice because they do not bleed through my journal pages. The washi tapes add an extra decorative touch to the cards, planners and also my journals.
I was given the first book in this series for Valentine’s Day and had a time limit on the books I was reading at the time so I waited till this month to start it.  I am hooked and so glad to find out it is a series.  I am ready to start the 3rd book and now I received the last two for my birthday!  Lots to look forward to.

My friends know that I enjoy making projects recycling supplies and one friend included the leftover paper that she used to wrap my gifts.  The colors are bright and the paper is sturdy.  Instead of using it as gift wrap I made the thank you cards shown here and a few more.  The original gift wrap is the photo featured on this blog post.

For this one a added a doily and inked the edges.

A die cut topper adds extra color to this one. For both cards I used a rubber stamp for the sentiment.

After the gifts and cards were opened we had a small portion of leftover pastries and I enjoyed a quiet evening of reading.

Another birthday celebration enjoyed fully and tomorrow will be treadmill day.  Very happy indeed.
