Tea Time

Recently I had a couple of sentimental tea time memories. The tea time was with my grandmother.

I have not heard of tea bombs before have you? They are dissolved in hot milk instead of hot water.  A wonderful gift from my daughter.

There are four in a package in a variety of flavors.

This is also what my grandmother’s tea time with me looked like when I was little.

The ‘tea’ was actually more milk than tea, at the time I thought that was what tea was supposed to look like. She would brew the tea, warm the milk and my cup was first filled with milk then a splash of tea.  Grandmother’s cup was just the opposite and ended up a deep tan color.  I did not think about the difference very much back then. It was simply a fun time pretending I was grown up enough for tea and cookie biscuits.

Currently, I am gradually purging closets and cabinets.  Sometimes that can be a difficult chore for me.  Have you gotten rid of things and then finally needed them not long after you donated them?  That happens to me. So, I end up debating what to put in the donation box.

However, keeping these mugs though they are not used daily is an easy decision.

They are the same type of mugs my grandmother used for our tea time. She always preferred mugs to tea cups. I was very excited to find these in a resale shop over twenty years ago.  Whether I use them for coffee or tea they always trigger tea time memories with my grandmother. Remembering special childhood times when I felt so grown up.

Now I am a grown up that enjoys feeling like a little kid again.  The mugs will stay.

Have fun both making and then revisiting your special memories.
