The love of books, a new year of reading,

I spent some time organizing my bookshelves in preparation for a new year of reading pleasure.  Reading opens doors to new adventures right from the comfort of wherever I choose to make my reading spot. I also enjoy that they are available to revisit as often as I like. It has been a few years that I started logging my reads and the quotes that stood out to me at the time.  In 2020 I completed 64 books, that is a record for me.

I enjoy reading every night before I go to bed. Reading helps me to relax and fall asleep. I just have to be careful not to read anything too suspenseful or else the story will end up invading my dreams!!

I prefer to have a hard copy book rather than reading one on-line. The entire process of visiting a bookstore whether new or used, going to the library or trading books with my reading buddy is always time well spent for me.

As Alice Mattison states in “The Book Borrower”  “A book one has read is different from a book one has not read”  Until we pick it up and read it, a book is an item on a shelf, once we pick it up and read it the book can make us laugh, cry, contemplate, grow, be called to action, instruct and educate us. We see the book differently and sometimes we ourselves are also changed.
Let me know how your reading adventures go.
