Isn’t it fun to receive a present with a little surprise tucked in the package? I am very thankful for friends and family that think of little gifts to add along with what they consider their main gift. I am the type of person that saves tissue paper and gift wrap, so for me these items are often useful in my art projects. They are great additions to my collaged cards and journal pages.
For my birthday a good friend included a small package of floral tissues in my gift bag. I have allergies so I stash tissue packets in my purse, tote bag, laptop bag, reading bag… you get the idea, I always keep tissues close by. Though this was humorous it was also very much appreciated.
The tissues she gave me are too cute to use and toss so I decided to use them for a decoupage project instead. I painted a small canvas, added a Bible verse and adhered the torn tissue to add a bit of bright color.
The way that the tissue blends onto the canvas appears almost as if the flowers are painted rather than decoupage. I already have ideas for other projects to make using these tissues. As for this canvas, I will be giving it to my friend to enjoy.
What little surprises have you received that you were able to add to your art and crafting projects?
