Easy techniques for Father’s day cards

Here are a couple of easy techniques for Father’s day cards to help you get started. They are adaptable to any celebration you want to acknowledge. The year is flying by for me. June already!  One of my grandsons likes Kokopelli images.  So, I try to incorporate them in his gifts and cards.  This technique works well with simple, large detail stamps

This easy background technique starts with a sheet of printer paper. I stenciled the circles in 2 sessions, using yellow first. Then I off-set the stencil and added the blue circles. To finish the design, I sprayed it with inks. If you do not have inks, watered down paint works as well. To complete the design I stamped the main image with black ink all over the page. I was not concerned about slight overlapping.
The blue images are stamped on plan white paper and then sprayed with ink.

The completed card is matted with a solid color.

This one would also make a fun birthday card. The race car patterned paper was a freebie in a magazine. It is very light weight and tends to buckle with white glue. I use a glue stick or double sided tape to adhere the thin paper to the cardstock. The paper did not quite cover both cards so I added a thin border. This border paper is also from a magazine page.

Stamped verbiage completes the race car cards. The verbiage is layered with a slightly patterned paper cut from an old envelope.

I will not be adding verbiage to the outside of the Kokopelli card; I want the image itself to be completely visible.

I hope you are enjoying the last days of spring as you prepare for summer. Have fun applying these easy techniques for Father’s day cards to your own creations. Creating your own patterned papers and clipping magazine pages for your card backgrounds is an enjoyable project.  This is a fun project that kids can also enjoy.  However, if you decide to use spray inks or paints, that might be best done by an adult.

Next post I will share another easy background technique. Have fun creating cards and upcycling old magazines to use in your projects.
